About IPS Flow Systems

IPS Flow Systems is a trusted specialist in thermoplastic piping systems and flow control solutions. With a reputation built on technical knowledge, outstanding service, and long-term partnerships, we work across sectors including fire protection, chemical dosing, high purity applications, and water treatment. We’re now looking to expand our team with a driven and technically confident Business Development Manager (BDM) to support our continued growth.
 

The Role

As a Business Development Manager, you’ll take ownership of a specific territory or sector, identifying and securing new opportunities while developing long-term relationships with customers. This is a strategic and hands-on role where you’ll represent the IPS brand, understand customer needs, and deliver technical solutions that add real value.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sales activity within your geographic area to achieve growth in line with company objectives
  • Identify and develop new business leads through a variety of channels including networking, referrals, cold calling, and digital tools
  • Build a strong pipeline of future opportunities, including a project funnel with consultants, contractors, and end users
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform your approach and uncover new opportunities
  • Present tailored solutions to potential customers and follow through to close deals
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships, providing excellent service and support
  • Work closely with internal teams including marketing, technical support, and procurement to ensure solutions are aligned with customer needs
  • Use CRM tools (Microsoft Dynamics 365) to manage contacts, opportunities, and reporting
  • Provide regular activity updates and insights to the Sales Manager, supporting strategic planning

What You’ll Need

  • Proven experience in technical sales or business development, ideally in a related sector such as plastic piping systems, fluid handling, or industrial equipment
  • A consultative selling approach, with the ability to understand complex customer needs and offer relevant solutions
  • Strong commercial awareness and a track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including confident presentation abilities
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, multitask, and manage time effectively
  • Experience using IT systems including CRM platforms (preferably Microsoft Dynamics), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites across the region
